Title: { Annual Haze }
The annual haze has came to Singapore again...

Based on Singapore PSI (Pollutant Standards Index) readings from NEA, I am trying to find out whether hazes will affect the temperature of the air around us (in singapore)

At the same time, i have found some methods that other countries uses to get rid of hazes.

Dry weather causes a temperature increase in the clouds which in turn causes light raindrops. Very light raindrops cannot fall to Earth as rain. Silver iodine or dry ice is seeded onto the clouds to lower their temperature. Ice crystals then form and gradually increase in size. Due to the gravitational pull, these ice crystals fall to the Earth and transform into drops of water when melted by Earth’s warmer temperature. The rain helps wash the haze down to the Earth.

Title: { Week 7 reflections }
Facts
What I know about surveys

A survey gets information about a particular topic or subject from a group of audiences. Many companies conducts survey so that they can improve what the make/sell/do.

Ideas
What I think about surveys

I think that surveys are another way to help us gather information and it also helps to keep us on the right track in this project. We can also confirm that what we find on the internet is correct .

Learning Issues
What I found out in the survey

Still finding out. ..

Action Plan
What I can do after the survey

Organise the results in a table, then extract the useful informations to use in our project

Title: { Week 5 Reflections }
What have we done so far?

Besides the weekly reflections, we have only done a little bit of research. The data from the research is still not organized properly yet.

What do we want to do next?

I hope that my group will stop lazing around and do their part in this group project.

What have we learnt?

I have learnt that team work is essential and if one of the group member fails to be active it will cause the whole group to pay…

Title: { Our Project Idea }

We will be presenting power point slides (using keynote) about the factors affecting sea level rise.
We would also like to include a flash animation in our slide show.

Title: { Week 4 reflection ( Individual ) }
This week , we have started our research (finally!)
I think that for the final product, we can make a flash animation , powerpoint slide and maybe a website.

Title: { Week 3 reflections }
Some questions that are still going around in my head…

How will we go about doing the project and will we do well?

3 Things i have learnt

I have learned that teamwork and friendship is very important.

Ideas that i agree with

I agree that we should start our project immediately.

When will this project be completed and what will the final product look like?

3 Things i have learnt

I have learnt that team work is essential in this project , and also making and using of guiding questions in my project.

Guiding question
1
What is the
difference of the depth of the sea level everyday?
What causes the
climate to change?
How does the
climate change?
What are the
different climates in different parts of the world?
Guiding question
2
How fast are the
polar ice caps melting?
What will happen
to the animals when sea level rises?
How does the sea
level rise affect us?
How does
different tides at different time affect the sea level?
Guiding question
3
Will the climate
change affect us?
How will the
climate continue to change?
What is the
history of the climate?
How does the
different climate affect the sea level?
Guiding question
4
What will happen
if the climate continues to change?
How can we
prevent and slow down sea level rise?
How much will
the climate change?
If we cant stop
the water level rise, how do we “protect” ourselves from the high water
level?

Title: { Project thoughts (16/1) }
Facts

The sea level will increase if the climate increases. The climate changes as more greenhouse gases are trapped on Earth

Ideas

I thought that the increase in water level is because most of the ice bergs are breaking because of the climate change.

Learning Issues

I learnt that if the climate increase, it gains more heat, causing the water to expand.
This will cause some towns or villages to be drown into the water.

Action Plan

I am going to observe the climate temperature and the sea level for everyday in a week. I would then check what is the relation between those two factors.

Title: { RE: Reservation posts.. }
 Im sorry .. but my group members did the wrong reflection. They did week 1 reflection..
Oh well.. wait another 2-3 days?

- Reserved for Raphael Ng's self reflection -

-Reserved for Nicodemus (23)- :)

Title: { Project thoughts (16/1) }
Facts
What I know about about the topic

I know/learnt that many more factors contribute to climate change and sea levels.

Ideas
What I think we can do

We can continue to research and find more information on our project... as well as organizing the data. And not to forget , blogging about it.

Learning Issues
What I want to find out about this topic

I want try find out everything i can for this topic. :D

Action Plan
What I can do to start the project

Well.. i can start by
  1. Finding information about it and post them to the group blog.
  2. Buying/getting a file to keep important forms , data and worksheets regarding the IPW.
  3. Encouraging/reminding group members to contribute to this project/topic.
  4. Compiling the information we found into a word document.
  5. Oh wait.. theres no point 5 :)
The end :D

Title: { Individual reflections }
Individual reflections will be posted tomorrow :D

Edit.. um sorry.. postponed to friday because im very busy today (thursday)

Title: { Knowing what we have to do }
Our topic is on the study of weather / climate change and sea level rise (topic no.29).

We know that global sea level has changed significantly throughout the earth’s history and one factor that leads to this is green house gases that causes temperature to increase which in turn causes ice sheets to melt. The water level rises when ice sheets melts.

We also would like to know why / how is the sea level increasing and what can we do to slow/prevent the process.

In this project , we can make us of our acience, research , teamwork , collaborating/ compiling , creativity and art skills.

Sources where we can get information about what we are researching on are yahoo, google and wikipedia. Oh yes, we can also go to the school's library of the national library to look for information regarding our topic.

We would also use Powerpoint , video clips and flash animation if possible, to present our work. Powerpoint includes keynote! :D

Title: { Decided on topic }
We have decided on the topic we want to do today.
It is :

29. Study of weather / climate change and sea level rise

Title: { Project thoughts (21) }
Facts
What I know
When the weather is raining, there would be more water so the sea level would be higher while when the weather is sunny, there would be less water as they are evaporated.

Ideas
What I think
I think I would go to the internet to check for the sea levels and see if there is a relationship with the weather for a week or more.

Learning Issues
What i want to find out
I want to find out about how the weather change is related to the rising of the sea level in Singapore.

Action Plan
What I can do
I can calculate the relation between how bad the weather which would cause what kind of effects to the sea level.

Jeremy Ng (21)

Title: { Project thoughts (22) }
Facts
What I know
I know a little on how the weather and climate change affects the sea level rise.

Ideas
What I think
I think that the topic we have chosen is a good one and that we will be able to do a good project!

Learning Issues
What i want to find out
I want to find out about the study of weather/climate change and sea level rise.

Action Plan
What I can do
I can help my group to do research and present. I can start researching immediately so that we will be able to finish our project on time.

Raphael Ng (22)
2D

Title: { Project thoughts (23) }
Facts
What I know
I know that the weather is causing the polar ice caps to melt making the sea level rise

Ideas
What I think
I think that this project will be meaningful to enable us to contribute less to global warming

Learning Issues
What i want to find out
I want to find out how the weather causes sea levels to rise.

Action Plan
What I can do
I can make a product to enable less global warming and so there would be just enough rain so the sea levels will not rise as quickly

Nicodemus Seet (23)
2D

Title: { Project thoughts (24) }
Facts
What I know
I know that when temperarture increases, polar ice caps will melt and in turn cause the water level to rise worldwide.

Ideas
What I think
I think that this topic is not too hard or too easy for our group and did not regret choosing this topic.

Learning Issues
What i want to find out
I want to find out whether there are any effective methods to stop/prevent all this from happening

Action Plan
What I can do
Help my group in the project as good as i can and research !
